MINISTER OF THE MONTH

“Can you hear me now?” If so, thank Kris Hernandez . She has proven to be a quick study on the sound board since joining the “Bells and Whistles” Team back in the booth! Her steady contribution to our Sunday morning Worship makes her April’s Minister of the Month!

THE SEVEN STANDARDS OF DISCIPLESHIP

A disciple of Christ is a baptized believer whose devotion to God is demonstrated in the following ways:

1. Consistent daily prayer, Bible reading, repentance and personal renewal.

2. Regular financial contribution to the work of the Lord being carried out by the congregation.

3. An understanding of spiritual authority, demonstrating a willing submission to the guidance and counsel of the church leadership.

4. Commitment to personal accountability through involvement in a small group and/or one-on-one discipling relationship.

5. Dependable participation in the scheduled activities of the congregation.

6. Reliable service in a designated area of ministry within the congregation; under the supervision of its leadership.

7. Active compassion for those in need and a heart for the lost

PRAYER SUPPORT AVAILABLE

There’s no need for anyone at GVCC to go through a difficult situation without prayer support. Our Elders are listed on the reverse side of this bulletin along with their telephone numbers or you can also contact them by writing your prayer needs on the tear-off tab and dropping it in the offering bag. Your request will be given only to the Elders and remain completely confidential.

Our 24-hour prayer line is always available. Just call 408-792-0809 and leave your prayer request. It will be picked up by one of our prayer watchmen and passed on to other prayer team members.

Prayer needs can also be left on our website, www.greenvalleychristian.org.

CALLING ALL GVCC WOMEN!

The Women’s Ministry Team invites all the women at GVCC to stay after Worship Sunday, April 20th, for a planning meeting. We would like to hear your ideas or wishes for future activities for the women of our church. A casual lunch will be provided so please RSVP to Suzy Snowden. Even if you can only stay for 15 or 20 minutes, come to share your thoughts and ideas.

LOVING CARE

Our dedicated nursery volunteers are available to care for your children (infant through three years old) during the entire Worship service.

OVERHEARD…

I often found myself preferring the company of people outside my congregation, men and women who did not follow Jesus. Or worse, preferring the company of my sovereign self. But soon I found that my preferences were honored by neither Scripture nor Jesus. I didn’t come to the conviction easily, but finally there was no getting around it: there can be no maturity in the spiritual life, no obedience in following Jesus, no wholeness in the Christian life apart from immersion and embrace of community. I am not myself by myself. Community, not the highly vaunted individualism of our culture, is the setting in which Christ is at play.         ~Eugene Peterson
