MINISTER OF THE MONTH

Since we’ve changed our Worship style and adopted the “Team” approach, it has been refreshing to see so many people step out in faith and participate. In particular, it has been wonderful to have Gloria Jacobsen set an example for us all, as she brings her smile and voice to the ministry. This fearless (?) expression of faith and devotion earns her February’s Minister of the Month honors. Be sure to thank her for her contribution to our church family.

Tuesday, February 5th, is the California Presidential Primary Election. As Christians we have a duty to be responsible citizens…to take the time to read the voter’s guides and cast our ballots. If you would like more information about the primary election and the different propositions, here are three faith-based organizations that have voter guides online:

WHAT’S IN YOUR OVEN!

What’s your specialty? Pies, cakes, cookies or some other scrumptious goodie? Start planning now which ones you’ll be baking to bring on next Sunday, February 10th, to Green Valley’s Nicaragua Mission Trip Dessert Auction. It’s happening right after Worship. (In 2006 several desserts went for over $100.) All monies go to the mission trip, and all desserts go to good homes! (Maybe even yours.)

FIRST SUNDAY PRAYER

Join GVCC’s Prayer Ministry Team for thirty minutes of prayer after Worship today in the Pastor Scott’s office. You’re already here and it won’t take much time from your day. Then see for yourself how God answers.

PRAYER & BREAKFAST

Just as breakfast is an important part of our day nutrition-wise, prayer should be a vital part of every believer’s life. GVCC’s Prayer Team is dedicated to supporting our congregation with prayer. All team members are invited to a Prayer Breakfast on Sunday, March 2nd, at 8:45 am in the Fireside Room. If you’d like more info about the Prayer Team, see Gilbert Cruz, Loy Tingley or Camie Nicholson.

EMAIL FROM OMETEPE

Hello to our friends and family. Just thought you might like to see a cool shot of the kids and our dogs down on the beach, Ometepe. We are soooooooo blessed to live in the tropics and be able to swim year round. It’s only a 10 minute walk from our house and worth the sweat! We are gearing up for many visitors this month. My former pastor (of an English speaking Vineyard church in Costa Rica) is visiting us the 7th-11th. My home church is sending a team of 8 the 16th-24th and we are so excited about that. Then my parents come down from cold Jersey to see us the 27th-March 12th. Sooooooo as you can see we are booked up but like the time we can spend with our friends and family. God bless ya,

OVERHEARD…

Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.
