MINISTER OF THE MONTH

Did you enjoy your coffee or hot chocolate this morning. With the winter months upon us, that warm beverage in your hands is appreciated more than ever! What better time, then, to appreciate the guys who provided it; Milton Roman and Rhomee Mascardo . Their dedication to the Hospitality Ministry makes them GVCC’s Ministers of the Month for January. Be sure to thank them next time you pour a cup of joe.

WHAT’S IN YOUR OVEN!

What’s your specialty? Pies, cakes, cookies or some other scrumptious goodie? Start planning now which ones you’ll be baking to bring on Sunday, February 10th, to Green Valley’s Nicaragua Mission Trip Dessert Auction. It’s happening right after Worship. (In 2006 several desserts went for over $100.) All monies go to the mission trip, and all desserts go to good homes! (Maybe even yours.)

Our team (Dietrich, Karen, Charlene & Megan Gage, Dominic Piccolo, Tyler Nicholson and Amy Helfrich) will be leaving for Ometepe Island in Nicaragua on Saturday, February 16th and returning Sunday, February 24th. They will be encouraging our missionaries, Tom & Esther Fritz and their family, plus helping put with a special event for the island’s pastors. This is our congregation’s opportunity to help our team raise the money needed for the costs of the trip. We might not all be able to go to the mission field, but, along with prayer, we can help out by baking and/or bidding. Plan to stay for the fun.

Prayer should be a vital part of every believer’s life and GVCC’s Prayer Team is dedicated to supporting our congregation with prayer. All prayer team members are invited to a Prayer Breakfast on Sunday, March 2nd, at 8:45 am in the Fireside Room. If you’d like more info about the Prayer Team, see Gilbert Cruz, Loy Tingley or Camie Nicholson.

CELEBRATE LIFE

Ladies, it’s time to rekindle your passion for living by finding joy in the simple things of life. If you are caught in the routine of living and want joy in the present, this year’s women’s retreat at Redwood Christian Park April 11-13 will equip you with practical ways to live a life of celebration.

Retreat speaker Lori Solierno offers an energetic and uplifting message. Highly committed to biblical teaching, Lori combines humor and personal experiences that challenge women to soar. She teaches balanced living and how to set priorities to establish a program of discipline. Registration forms are on the counter in the lobby. You can also register online at redwoodchristianpark.com. GVCC has two cabins reserved so be sure to say you’re with Green Valley. These retreats are very popular, so don’t wait until the last minute. For more info please contact Lyn Morris.

The petition drive to place SB 777 (change to the State Education Code) on the ballot was a huge success reports Larry Pegram from the Values Advocacy Council. Over 35,000 signatures were collected. Thank you for being salt and light in our community!

FIRST SUNDAY PRAYER

Join GVCC’s Prayer Ministry Team for thirty minutes of prayer after Worship next Sunday in the Pastor Scott’s office. You’re already here and it won’t take much time from your day. Then see for yourself how God answers.

OVERHEARD…

When they discover the center of the universe, a lot of people will be disappointed to discover they are not it.
