MINISTER OF THE MONTH

Green Valley is blessed to have a sister like Linda Karadunis. She has offered her voice to the Worship Team as a way to bless us on Sunday morning. She also keeps track of all our birthdays and anniversaries and sends cards to encourage and bless us. Her considerate and thoughtful dedication to these ministries make her July’s Minister of the Month. Take a moment to acknowledge her with a hug or a kind word!

WHAT’S YOUR GIFT?

Have you turned in your Spiritual Gift survey yet? There’s one included in today’s bulletin so please prayerfully consider what your spiritual gift(s) might be and put the survey in the offering bag. God has given each believer at least one spiritual gift and we need to bless others by using it. Don’t leave your gift unopened or unused!

VISITORS FOR DODOMA

A short-term mission team from a local church will be leaving this week for Tanzania. They plan to hold medical clinics & community health sessions plus VBS in Northern Zanzmissibar. Several team members will visit our sponsored children in Dodoma and evaluate the program. If you would like follow what is happening on their trip, read their blog at:

CREATIVE LADIES

We had such a good time at our last get-together that we’ve scheduled another Women’s “Anything Goes Craft Night” on Friday, August 15th from 7-10 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Bring your favorite craft to work on, to share or to show off to others. Daughters are also welcome to join in the crafting with their moms. Come enjoy the fellowship and see what other crafters are doing.

FIRST SUNDAY PRAYER

Join GVCC’s Prayer Ministry Team for thirty minutes of prayer after Worship next Sunday in the Pastor Scott’s office. You’ll already be here and it won’t take much time from your day. Then see for yourself how God answers.

OVERHEARD…

The existence of pleasure is the first mystery. The existence of pain has prompted far more philosophical speculation. Pleasure and pain need to be considered together; they are inseparable. Yet the space filled by each is perhaps different. Pleasure, defined as a sense of gratification, is essential for nature’s workings. Otherwise there would be no impulse to satisfy the needs which ensure the body’s and the species’ survival. Gratification, or its anticipation, acts as a goad. Pain or the fear of pain acts as a warning. Both are essential. The difference between them, considered as opposites, is that pleasure has a constant tendency to exceed its functional purpose, to not know its place.

LOVING CARE

Our dedicated nursery volunteers are available to care for your children (infant through three years old) during the entire Worship service.

DON’T FORGET

While you and your family are off enjoying your vacation this summer, please don’t forget to continue your contributions to the Lord’s work. Ministry at Green Valley keeps happening all year long.
