MINISTER OF THE MONTH

We learned a few weeks ago that the people with Gift of Service do the little things that help others to succeed, with no regard for recognition. Marc Atwell personifies this Gift. His steady help on the Communion Team, his faithful service to our Seniors on Tuesdays , and his occasional singing with the Worship Team show us all what a servant's heart looks like. He may not like the attention, but be sure to thank him anyway as he is June's Minister of the Month!

THE SEVEN STANDARDS OF DISCIPLESHIP

A disciple of Christ is a baptized believer whose devotion to God is demonstrated in the following ways:

1. Consistent daily prayer, Bible reading, repentance and personal renewal.

2. Regular financial contribution to the work of the Lord being carried out by the congregation.

3. An understanding of spiritual authority, demonstrating a willing submission to the guidance and counsel of the church leadership.

4. Commitment to personal accountability through involvement in a small group and/or one-on-one discipling relationship.

5. Dependable participation in the scheduled activities of the congregation.

6. Reliable service in a designated area of ministry within the congregation; under the supervision of its leadership.

7. Active compassion for those in need and a heart for the lost.

DODOMA NEWS!

A local church is sending a team to Tanzania this Summer, and have asked if we’d like to send correspondence to the children we support in Dodoma. Have your cards and letters in to Green Valley by July 20^th, so we can get them to the team in time to make the plane!

FIRST SUNDAY PRAYER

Join GVCC’s Prayer Ministry Team for thirty minutes of prayer after Worship today in the Pastor Scott’s office. You’re already here and it won’t take much time from your day. Then see for yourself how God answers.

3^RD Annual Father’s Day Cookout

This Father’s Day, June 15^th, we’ll be honoring our dads and fellowshipping together in a big way. You won’t want to miss it. Plan on wearing jeans and jerseys and save the date. Join us all as we celebrate dads, have a BBQ and potluck lunch after church. There will even be a few surprises. Sign up in the Foyer today for the potluck BBQ!

POSTCARD FROM OMETEPE

Dear Church Family,

Our sister Vineyard church from Palmares, Costa Rica just left here after blessing us with building up our church walls and a storage shed. Now 28 local island pastors are coming for our friend LeRoy Curtis’ Bible course seminars. (GVCC’s team helped with the first campout & seminar for local pastors.) We’re busy as beavers, but it’s so worth it!
