MINISTER OF THE MONTH

Our Worship Team has undergone a lot of changes recently and several people have stepped up and taken on new responsibilities. One of those people is Mary MacLean, who is selecting the songs we sing each Sunday. She’s also back singing and leading the team occasionally when Dietrich or Dave isn’t available. We appreciate her willingness to serve and are blessed by her singing and her smiles. Mary is our Minister of the Month for May!

THE SEVEN STANDARDS OF DISCIPLESHIP

A disciple of Christ is a baptized believer whose devotion to God is demonstrated in the following ways:

1. Consistent daily prayer, Bible reading, repentance and personal renewal.

2. Regular financial contribution to the work of the Lord being carried out by the congregation.

3. An understanding of spiritual authority, demonstrating a willing submission to the guidance and counsel of the church leadership.

4. Commitment to personal accountability through involvement in a small group and/or one-on-one discipling relationship.

5. Dependable participation in the scheduled activities of the congregation.

6. Reliable service in a designated area of ministry within the congregation; under the supervision of its leadership.

7. Active compassion for those in need and a heart for the lost.

FIRST SUNDAY PRAYER

Join GVCC’s Prayer Ministry Team for thirty minutes of prayer after Worship today in the Pastor Scott’s office. You’re already here and it won’t take much time from your day. Then see for yourself how God answers.

Promise Keepers is coming to Fresno June 27-28. See the flyer in today’s bulletin for speaker information. If you are interested in attending, please see Pastor Scott or Dominic Piccolo. GVCC’s men plan to purchase the tickets as a group, so please give your registration and payment to them.

To my beloved family at GVCC,

As I officially make the transition from ministry with OMF to motherhood, I wanted to write and say thank you for your generous support over the years, both while I was in Thailand and while I was doing mobilization here in the States. You are truly like family to me and I am so grateful for you. I miss gathering together with you and pray that the Lord would continue to bless you and make you a blessing, both individually and as a congregation.

Love in Christ, Kathy & Hansel Lee

The mission of the Global Day of Prayer is to call Christians from all nations to unite in repentance and prayer and work together as God’s servants for the blessing and healing of the Nations. On Pentecost Sunday, May 15, 2005, Christians from 156 of the 220 nations of the world united across denominational and cultural borders for the first Global Day of Prayer. It has continued to grow and in 2007 even more Christians from 204 nations participated. You can join in this event this year on Saturday, May 10th, 6:00 pm, Gateway City Church, 5883 Eden Park Place, San Jose, 95138.

OVERHEARD…

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. ~ Leo Buscaglia
