DODOMA SPONSORS

Plan to stay after church Sunday October 12th for a short information meeting. We will get a report on our children, including a video from this summer’s VBS/medical trip, recent pictures and updated biographies. Our 2-year commitment ends in December, and if you are thinking about continuing your support, this meeting is a must! Togo’s sandwiches will be provided, so don’t worry about missing lunch.

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON STUDY HALL

There are 4 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 1 high school within walking distance of our church building. We have an opportunity to help some of these students with their studies. We also have several students here in our church family we can provide extra help and encouragement. If you are interested in being a “tutor”, a chef, or can spare some time to help set up tables and chairs, fill out the tab on this bulletin by writing your name, phone number, and “Study Hall” and put it in the offering bag or give it to one of the Elders. We will have a planning and “brainstorming” meeting soon, and are asking for ideas, input, and commitments so we can start this “experiment” in November.

WEEKEND GETAWAY

Next year’s women’s retreat, Dolce Vita - The Sweet Life, at Redwood Christian Park is scheduled for April 24-26, but sign-ups need to be in by October 15th for the best rooms. The speaker will be Judy Hampton with special music by Crimson Bridge. See the brochure on the counter in the Lobby or talk to Lyn Morris .

FIRST SUNDAY PRAYER

Join GVCC’s Prayer Ministry Team for thirty minutes of prayer after Worship next Sunday in the Pastor Scott’s office. You’ll already be here and it won’t take much time from your day. Then see for yourself how God answers.

SHOEBOXES FOR KIDS

November is just a couple months away and soon it will be time to start packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. It’s a good time to start thinking about what you’d like to send to children overseas. Start collecting pencils, crayons, paper goods, toys, hygiene supplies, etc.

GVCC has purchased 100 plastic shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Everyone (men, women, kids) is invited to help decorate all those shoe boxes with Christmas stickers and holiday decorations on Saturday, October 18th from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm. Make it a family project or come work on it by yourself. A continental breakfast will be served. Decorating materials will also be provided. Questions? See Mary MacLean.
